OMAN-Etihad Railway Firm (OERC) has awarded the civil works and railway programs contracts for the challenge to construct a 303km railway from Sohar in Oman to Abu Dhabi within the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Civil works might be undertaken by an alliance of corporations from Oman and the UAE, led by Trojan Development Group and Galfar Engineering and Contracting.
Siemens, in consortium with Hassan Allam Development of Egypt, has been awarded a design-build contract for railway programs and integration, together with ETCS Stage 2 signalling, telecommunications and energy provide programs.
